Learning Reviews

Who Might Benefit?

Thrive Learning Reviews are designed for parents who would like:

  • A clearer understanding of their child's current attainment

  • Greater insight into particular strengths or areas of difficulty

  • To understand whether foundational skills are secure

  • Guidance around appropriate next steps

  • An independent educational perspective before considering additional support

  • A clearer picture during a period of educational transition or change

You do not need to have a specific concern to request a review and there is no expectation to continue with learning sessions at Thrive following a review.

Understand How Your Child Learns

Sometimes knowing what a child can do only tells part of the story.

Thrive Learning Reviews are designed to explore how your child thinks and learns, rather than simply measuring what they know.

Assessment takes place individually through carefully selected learning activities, practical tasks, discussion and observation. This dedicated time allows responses to be explored in greater depth, reasoning to be followed and the level of challenge adjusted as your child's understanding emerges.

Throughout every Review, attention is also given to the behaviours that influence learning, such as how a child:

  • Approaches challenge

  • Responds when unsure

  • Selects and adapts strategies

  • Explains their thinking

  • Sustains attention and effort

  • Responds to feedback

These observations help provide greater context to assessment findings and inform practical recommendations for future learning.

A Professional Perspective

Thrive Learning Reviews draw upon the English National Curriculum as a recognised benchmark for age-related expectations, while considering your child's individual educational context.

The aim is not to assess every aspect of the curriculum, but to build a meaningful picture of your child's current learning and identify the most useful next steps.

Where appropriate, recommendations may include strategies for home or school, further educational support or specialist assessment.
